SOLO DATES FOLLOW BROWNE'S YEAR-LONG TOUR WITH HIS FULL BAND
Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne kicks off his Fall 2009 Solo Acoustic Tour with a November 1 show at the Forum in Harrisburg, PA. The tour wraps on December 7 in Des Moines, IA with a concert at the Civic Center. The complete schedule and the latest updates can be found online here. These are Browne's first solo acoustic dates since early 2008.
The stripped-down, unscripted nature of Browne's intimate solo performances can be experienced through two live albums recorded on previous solo acoustic tours in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia: the GRAMMY®-nominated Jackson Browne - Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1 (2005) and Jackson Browne - Solo Acoustic, Vol. 2 ('08). Both albums are available on Browne's independent label, Inside Recordings. In his four-star review of Vol. 2 for Rolling Stone, Anthony DeCurtis wrote, "Between songs, Browne speaks about his life and music with moving candor...This is Browne at his best, engaging his audience, his own experiences and the world around him, all in songs that will not lose their resonance any time soon."
The 2009 solo acoustic dates follow a full year on the road for Browne, touring with his band in support of his latest studio album, 2008's Time The Conqueror. Bookended by legs in the U.S., the just-completed World Tour also traveled to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Europe. Produced by Browne and Paul Dieter, Time The Conqueror features ten original songs including "The Drums Of War," "Going Down To Cuba," "Just Say Yeah" and the title track. In a review for MOJO, Phil Sutcliffe wrote, "Browne delivers elegantly considered weight and truth...His grand yet unpretentious imagery shows why he's admired by such diverse peers as Springsteen and Randy Newman."
Browne's newest original song, "Here," is featured in the motion picture Shrink, serving as dramatic punctuation over the end title credits. Released July 31, 2009 from Roadside Attractions, Shrink stars Academy Award®-winning actor Kevin Spacey, and the cast also features Saffron Burrows, Jack Huston, Robert Loggia, Keke Palmer, Pell James, Mark Webber, and Dallas Roberts.
Since his acclaimed 1972 self-titled debut album, Jackson Browne has defined a genre of songwriting and performing that is charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. Two of his albums, Late For the Sky and The Pretender, are on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time." He's been recognized with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame (2007), with recent humanitarian honors including the John Steinbeck Award and the Chapin-World Hunger Year Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award.
