13th Acoustic Guitar Meeting in Sarzana (Italy)
Didactic seminars, concerts, exhibitors and many international stars in the extensive programme for the annual date with the acoustic guitar world
To Jackson Browne, musician, singer songwriter, pianist and above all guitarist, one of the most important in the world, for his commitment and social activism, political and civilian because for 40 years, his strings and his voice have enhanced life: speaking out against injustice and cultivating hope for a better tomorrow.».
It is for this reason that the great Californian musician will receive on Saturday 22 May the City of Sarzana-Liguria Region Award Strings & Voices for Dialogue & Civil Rights 2nd edition, presented on the main stage of the Acoustic guitar meeting, a recognition as "a celebration in the use of folk songs as a prominent instrument for social change and civil progress, and its interpreters for excellence: the voice and the acoustic guitar (awarded last year in memory of Woody Guthrie).
Like every year, the 13th Acoustic guitar meeting will take place inside the 15th-century Firmafede Fortress on 19-20-21-22-23 May 2010 with a very extensive programme: fifty hours of lessons inliutherie and didactic acoustic guitar seminars; a young guitarists contest CARISCH Award 2010; more than 30 concerts by international artists; City of Sarzana-Liguria Region Award Strings & Voices for Dialogue & Civil Rights 2nd edition; workshops and seminars; the new Ukulele village, an area dedicated to the Hawaiian instrument; over one hundred exhibitors (master luthiers, guitar manufacturers and importers of guitars and accessories, vintage guitars, publishing, dedicated magazines, CDs, vinyl's etc); the campaign "One instrument for L'Aquila", whereby two guitars will be made along with a collection of other instruments and accessories to be sent to musicians of the city destroyed by the 2009 earthquake.
Furthermore, with the presence of Taylor American guitars, the acoustic guitar brands exhibiting at Sarzana in 2010 is complete: Martin, Eko, Lowden, Larrivèe, Godin, Breedlove, National,Seagull, Tanglewood, Ramirez, Simon & Patrick, La Patrie, Maton, Cole Clark, etc.
The meeting will open on Wednesday 19th May with didactic seminars on Acoustic Guitar making and playing techniques. The seminars consist of lessons 6/7 hours a day on 19-20-21 May. The teachers present will be Bryan Galloup, Leonardo Petrucci, Franco Di Filippo (lutherie seminars) and Davide Mastrangelo, Massimo Varini, Alex De Grassi, Michael Manring (guitar and bass seminars).

On Thursday 20th May the evening concert will begin with New Sounds of Acoustic Music "CARISCH Award 2010, a young guitarists contest. The event is organised in partnership betweenCarisch and the magazine Chitarre. After the contest the evening concert will begin with the very best acoustic guitar musicians.
On Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd May the best acoustic guitar players, from all over the world, will perform on the main stage; the program will available soon.
The Ukulele village is among the novelties of this 13Th edition: an area dedicated to the Hawaiian instrument with exhibitors, concerts, seminars, lessons and events. Also inside this space is theKids' guitar corner, a learning and recreational space for children.
Again this year will be present the seminar "essere suono", dedicated to meditation and self awareness through music and the guitar.
Completing this years extraordinary event in the acoustic guitar world: on Friday 21st May, Saturday 22nd May and Sunday 23rd May is the traders show; luthiers, import, vintage and collection guitars, accessories, publishing, dedicated magazines, CDs and vinyl's. During the exhibition will be held concerts, live demonstrations and presentation of new products. Italian A.D.G.P.A., CentroStudiFingerstyle of Arezzo, Lizard of Florence, Fingerpicking.net, Accordo.it will have their own spaces for seminars and other events.
